Holistic Approach to High Performance: Matt Hurst, Penn State University

By Fitter and Faster Staff

Matt Hurst is one of the most enthusiastic young coaches in the NCAA and one of the best sprint coaches in the United States. This past season, Hurst helped guide the Penn State Nittany Lions Men’s 200 Free relay to a blistering 1:17.3, en route to breaking the school record and qualifying for the NCAA Championships which were ultimately canceled due to the pandemic.

Additionally, Hurst coached Olympic hopeful Gabe Castano to a 19.06 finish in the men’s 50 free at the 2020 Big Ten Championships. The Women’s 200 Medley relay school record also went down under Hurst’s leadership, posting a 1:37.0!

Coach Hurst joins Mike Murray to discuss his “Holistic Approach,” to high-performance and why his philosophy is paying dividends for his athletes.  This is an episode that you won’t want to miss!
