NCAA vs. Age Group Coaching

Coach Gary Taylor joins Mike Murray on this week’s edition of Coaches Corner to discuss the differences between coaching elite swimmers at the college level, and coaching national talent in the age group ranks. Taylor’s experiences in coaching range from working with club teams, like Twin Cities Swim Club (MN), and Dynamo Swim Club (GA), to helping lead some of the best programs in the NCAA: Florida State, NC State, and Auburn.

Over the past 3 years, Taylor has guided one of the best age group swimmers in history, Thomas Heilman, to Junior National titles, Jr. National Team births, and several National Age Group Records while serving as the Head Coach at Cavalier Aquatics, at the Piedmont Family YMCA in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Cavalier Aquatics men’s team notched a runner-up finish at the 2023 Winter Junior National Championships, East, @ Ohio State in December; while claiming titles in 3 relay events.
