Curriculum

Younger Curriculum: Slay the DRAGon

Reducing drag is imperative if you want to move through the water quickly and efficiently. Finding a streamlined body position will help you reduce the water resistance so that you go faster! At this clinic, two-time Olympian Chloe Sutton will teach participants how to maximize their speed by becoming more hydrodynamic! Slay the DRAGon in your:

  • Starts:
  • Streamlines:
  • Turns:
  • AND in your strokes!:

Older Curriculum: Freestyle Technqiue and Open Water Strategies

Freestyle is the stroke that you swim most often and it is also the mmost complex stroke. Learn the details of a proper stroke technqiue as well as the subtle differences that you make when switching from a sprint freestyle stroke to a distance freestyle stroke. Chloe, an open water Olympian, will also go over open water racing basics, strategies, and techniques!

  • Freestyle: Start off with a strong and straight body line with your core engaged and a proper head position. Add in a balanced rotation, strong kick, powerful arm pull, and a quick breath. The last and most important step is to connect each of those pieces together to form a single, synchronized unit that will allow you to blast ahead of the competition in all of your freestyle races.
  • Open Water: Swimming out in the open water is more about outsmarting your opponet than out swimming them. Obviously you have to have endurance, but you also have to know yourself enough to be able to devise a strategy that will get your hand on the finishing pad first! Chloe will put participants through drills and exercises so that they can feel confident as they lose sight of the shore.
