Dryland Program for Swimmers – Sign up to participate in this four week dryland program!

Every day (Monday-Friday) for 4 weeks swimmers will participate in a live dryland workout. Each workout will be an hour long and will focus on key exercises designed specifically for swimmers. Athletes who participate in this program can expect to build strength, stability, and athleticism. 

Each class will be designed by Strength and Conditioning and 20 year industry veteran Coach Lee Sommers. He trained Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Katie Ledecky for the 4 years leading up to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. He now works with several swim teams in the DC area to provide their dryland training. For each class, he or one of his associates will lead the athletes through the exercises and watch their technique to ensure proper form.

Participantes sugeridos

These sessions are appropriate for all swimmers aged 10-14. Equipment is not required, but come to the session with any bands, tubing, medicine balls, weights (dumbbells and/or plates) you might have. Coach Sommers will provide options both with and without equipment.

This dryland program is specifically designed for swimmers by a strength and conditioning coach who has worked with swimmers his whole career. Swimming specific exercises can not only improve performance in the pool, but also reduce the chances of injury. Swimmers will observe a trained strength and conditioning professional and then follow performing the same exercises. Participants may ask questions throughout the class.

  • Dryland Workout Designed for Swimmers: Exercises in this class were designed for swimmers to improve strength, stamina, core stability, balance, and athleticism. Each class will be a full body workout targeting the areas where swimmers will benefit the most.
  • Knowledge of Better Form: Swimmers in this workout program will be able to watch a trained strength and conditioning professional perform the exercises with proper technique before doing them. This is incredibly important because proper technique will help swimmers build strength faster while also preventing injury.
  • More Strength and Power: By using both body weight and weighted exercises on land, swimmers can build more strength and power for faster and stronger racing in the pool! These full body workouts will address all the areas that swimmers need the most strength!
