Olivia Bloomer started swimming a lot later than most, diving into the sport around her freshman year of high school. Since then, she has had a strong passion and love for the sport that has gained her respect.
“The most important thing for improving in the sport of swimming is loving it. Love the hard practices, love your teammates, love learning new things. Teaching kids about swimming and helping them improve gives me the opportunity to fuel their love for the sport, and it is so rewarding.”
Specializing in sprint freestyle, Olivia has a deep understanding of the discipline behind fractions of seconds and how they can lead to feelings of defeat.
“I know how it feels to touch the wall and not feel good about the time on the board. But it’s important to remember that how you come back from those swims, is what makes you stronger.
Bloomer swims for the University of Minnesota, where this year she represents as the Women’s Team Captain. Through her collegiate career, she has taken her 50 and 100 yard freestyle to the Big Ten Championship and continues to sharpen her skillsets to better her goals.
Olivia brings a breath of knowledge to the fine details of sprint work and what it means to maximize learning, as she continues to advance her swimming career. Be sure to check out some of her upcoming clinics!
