EXPERIENCE

Growing up in Japan, competing collegiately in the US and representing Yemen at multiple world championships including the Olympics, Mokhtar brings a refreshing perspective to every space he enters.

In his clinics, he leans on 20+ years of experience training with various teams around the world to teach up-and-coming swimmers the importance of team building and nurturing a healthy relationship with the sport.

Mokhtar’s friendly and approachable personality shines through in his teaching style, which includes a variety of unique drills and fun games that pair well with his targeted instruction. Above all, he encourages swimmers to work together to get better.

“My teammates helped me tremendously in making what were once dreams, a reality.”

As the captain of the University of Michigan swimming and diving team his senior year, Mokhtar led 35+ athletes through a hard fought championship season to countless lifelong memories. It was during his time in Michigan that he realized the power of collaborative results. He cites his team’s belief in one another as a key driver for success and motivation, and encourages everyone at clinics to treat others with respect.

“The Team, The Team, The Team…that was our mantra all through college. Putting the team above all else and learning to problem solve in ways that lift up those around us allowed us to build a bond like no other. Everyone got better because we learned to take responsibility when needed, encourage one another, and hold ourselves accountable to the highest standard.”

Being an elite swimmer is about trial and learning. Being open to new techniques, even if they seem strange at first, is the first step to getting better!

“I tell all of my clinics that the best swimmers are smart swimmers! Trying new things, making little changes, and experimenting with how each piece clicks together is super important”, Mokhtar says.

“Little changes every day can make big changes over time.”

Reviews from Mokhtar's Camps!

“Ollie was really happy he did this clinic again. Chris and Mokhtar were great in breaking up the lessons, making sure everyone in the group could hear, see, and get feedback or ask questions. They took time to give swimmers individual advice and tips based on their specific needs. It really was great having 2 clinicians at the clinic for the first time!” – Stephanie, Salem NH

“(Mokhtar) did a great job. Very specific. Didn’t go off topic nor was it too broad. I know my daughter picked up on a lot and will be a better swimmer. His age was good for dealing with awkward teenagers. He communicates well. Loved that he got in the water to demonstrate drills. Top notch instructor.” – Stephanie, Brigantine NJ
