EXPERIENCE

Originally from Houston, Texas, Jordan Jones started swimming year-round a little late (11 years old). However, that didn’t deter him from pursuing a solid swimming career.

Thoughout his career, Jordan truly enjoyed the unknown, not knowing what practice would look like or what events he would swim going to an in-season meet. He embraced this mindset to become a well-rounded swimmer in and out of the water!

Jordan’s best events included the 400 IM, 200 IM, 200 Breast, and 500 Free. “There is no perfect formula for getting to the top, but with focus, disciple, and accountability, you have a pretty good shot at getting there,” says Jordan. This motto has gotten him to some of the highest levels in our sport. Jordan competed for NCSA Junior Team at Irish Nationals in 2010 and in Japan in 2012, is a 2 time Olympic Trials qualifier, SEC A finalist, NCAA Qualifier, and was the Auburn Team Captain 2015-2016.

Jordan’s success in the pool prepared him for his coaching career. Jordan has coached multiple State Championships and State Champions, Coached two to the National Junior Team and one to Junior World Championships (Jake Magahey), and attended National Select Camp in Colorado Springs.

Currently a coach at Swim Atlanta, Jordan wants to give back to the sport he has been in for over 16 years.

“A lot of what goes into coaching the “up and comers” is seeing the trends in swimming now and predicting what they will be. My favorite part of coaching is not necessarily the hardest sets or the most brutal practices. My favorite part of coaching and teaching is seeing the kids make small mental breakthroughs/realizations in their own training and racing. Seeing a younger kid commit to stepping it up, or doing 5 dolphin kicks off each wall. We train the kids today to be better than the kids yesterday. Better in the water, better out of the water, better swimmers, better people.”
