Past Clinic

Below is an overview of the curriculum participants will engage in at this clinic.

BUTTERFLY

FREESTYLE

  • ESTABLISH HIGH ELBOWS:  The underwater catch should utilize the entire forearm – from the tips of the fingers to the elbow.  Jensen will teach the skill of this high elbow catch which enables swimmers to move forward with greater power.
  • NEUTRAL BODY AND HEAD POSITION: One of Jensen's foundations of fast freestyle is a neutral body and head position.  In order to maintain this body position and reduce drag it is essential to take a quick breath and immediately return the head back to the neutral position.
  • HIP ROTATION: All movements in swimming are initiated at the core.  Learn to overcome water resistrance with a tight active core and good hip rotation.

HEAR FROM CLAIRE AND LARSEN:

  • ASK QUESTIONS: Swimmers and parents are invited to ask the clinicians questions during a Q&A session.  Hear the Olympians talk and gain insight into their training regimen, diet and nutrition, and recovery tactics.
  • WHAT ARE THEY THINKING: Get inside the minds of two of the best swimmers in the world.  Donahue and Jensen will dissect their stroke and explain what they think about when they swim in practices and races.

SPECIAL PARENT'S TALK:

  • Hear from Claire Donahue's mother during a special parent's segment.  Parents are welcome to listen and ask questions about how Connie Donahue raised one of the fastest butterflyers in the world.

Take a photo while wearing Olympian's medals, get autographs, and pick up a full color Fitter & Faster Tour 2014-2015 Yearbook and a special welcome bag that contains gifts from our sponsors!
