BUTTERFLY: Butterfly, more than any other stroke relies on rhythm and momentum; take advantage of the expertise our coaches will share with you to learn balance, timing and how to create forward momentum.
- CORE DRIVEN ROTATION: Your coaches tell you to undulate, now learn how to press your chest and drive your hips to create that undulating movement and create forward momentum.
- KICKING: Ensure you are kicking both upward and downward equally by learning to kick from your core rather than from the knees down.
- BREATHING: How much breathing is too much? Learn to create rhythm in your breathing pattern so that you can maintain a horizontal body position.
TURNS AND BREAKOUTS: Numerous coaches talk to their athletes about the walls being "Free Speed"! You get the opportunity to recreate momentum off of each wall; learn how to take advantage of that opportunity. Carrying the speed from your turn into the first stroke cycle is crucial for maintaining momentum. Head position, timing and knowing the rules are important skills you'll leave more confident in.
- APPROACH: Know how to anticipate the turn by understanding how and when to adjust your stroke so you touch at the end of a full stroke cycle rather than too short or long.
- FOOT/HAND PLACEMENT: You are probably consistent at touching with two hands simultaneously but, do you know the feet should plant shoulder width apart and at a 45 degree angle for the best push off? Our elite athletes will show you why.
- BREAKOUTS: Focus on pushing the streamline to make this the fastest part of your race!
WATCH THE OLYMPIANS: Observe Tarwater and Perdue swim at full speed and demonstrate a progression of perfectly executed drills to achieve powerful and efficient strokes.
GET UP AND RACE: Race some of the best swimmers in the world and watch their near-flawless technique - achieved by practicing the same drills they will teach you.
HEAR FROM DAVIS AND LAUREN:
- ASK QUESTIONS: Swimmers and parents are invited to ask the clinicians questions during a Q&A session: Gain insight into their training regimen, diet, nutrition and recovery tactics.
- PERFORMANCE MINDSET: Get inside the minds of two of the best swimmers in the world. Tarwater and Perdue will dissect their stroke and explain what they think about when they swim in practices and races.
