EXPERIENCE

Ruslan Gaziev is a sprint freestyle swimmer who represented Canada at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. There, he swam the third leg of the men’s 4×100 meter freestyle relay in preliminary heats; Canada went on to finish fourth in the final. He also represented Canada at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan and earned top-10 finishes in the 4×100 meter free relay, mixed 4×100 meter medley relay, mixed 4×100 meter free relay and the 4×100 meter medley relay. Ruslan won a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships and won two medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Ruslan knows that as an active world-class competitor he shares similar experiences as the camp participants. “Because I am still competing I can relate directly to what the young swimmers at our camps are going through at practices and meets. This is a great way for us to connect!”

Gaziev swam for Ohio State University where he was a First Team All American, First Team All Big Ten, and Big Ten Champion in the 100-yard free with a program record and Big Ten Championships record time. He is also a Big Ten Champion in the 200- and 400-yard free relays.
