EXPERIENCE

Pavel Romanov started swimming competitively when his mom and grandma took him to try out for a school team at age ten, and for him, it was love at first stroke. When he’s not in the pool, Pavel spends most of his time diving deep into the field of finance and investments and loves to learn new things. His love of learning is one of the reasons he is so excited to share his knowledge of swimming with others. He wants to help young swimmers improve and to develop a passion for learning new things.

“Fitter and Faster clinics are a great opportunity for swimmers to gain more knowledge about the sport and I can’t wait to share my insights with the next generation of athletes.”

In his clinics, Pavel is comfortable teaching all strokes. He will focus on technique from head to toe through head position, hip rotation, and having a strong kick. Pavel emphasizes that with enough hard work young swimmers can reach their goals as he believes swimming is 99% hard work and 1% talent. He stresses that swimming can be a challenging sport so he encourages the swimmers at his clinics to “focus on one individual thing each practice so that even if they are having an off day they can still walk out of practice having achieved something.”

A unique question Pavel asks at his clinics is “What was the main thing you remember?” After hearing the swimmers’ answers, he will reiterate the key ideas from the day so “the swimmers can have more details to work with on something that’s important to them,” adding, “I also will be able to take what they say and keep applying it to continuously better my teaching style.”

Though he spent most of his career swimming in Russia, Pavel has been training at the University of Alabama for the last few years. He says that training in two different countries has lead to two very different but unique and exciting experiences both of which he intertwines throughout his clinics.

Pavel recommends swimmers take in as much as possible in the clinics because this isn’t just another practice, it’s an opportunity to immerse ones self into a clinic where the primary goal is to learn and improve.

“It’s crucial for swimmers to have the right mind set, and to think of the clinic as a once in lifetime experience.”

Book Pavel for your Fitter and Faster clinic today to experience a new and unique form of teaching that will have your young swimmers smiling from ear to ear and have their brains packed with new knowledge about the sport they love.
