The focus on technique and timing is what set this clinic apart from the instruction my daughter received from her LSC. The butterfly is a difficult stroke to swim efficiently, but the progression of different drills resulted in my daughter having several “Ah Ha” moments. As a result, the butterfly went from one of her most loathed strokes to one that she looks forward to improving further. Local Swim Clubs are very hit or miss in terms of connecting with our children. Fitter and Faster coaches and clinicians all have the enviable combination of elite experience and having once been an Age Group swimmer. The drills and lessons are very relatable as a result, and are now incorporating these teaching points or instruction in to their training routines and race preparation.
Having participated in MANY clinics from Georgia, to Alabama, to Florida with my daughters Audrey and Nora, the Butterfly camp by Luis and the clinician was one of the best. While Jack Roach, Brett Hawke, and Tyler McClery were all great, the groups were much larger and therefore the swimmers had less individual interaction with them. With Luis and Robyn, they had only nine (9) swimmers and the broke the drills down having only three (3) swimmers in the water at a time (not including warm-ups and general drills). The result was a great deal of individual instruction after every drill which really helped Audrey understand the specifics of what she needed to improve. Because of this, Audrey took away more from this camp than any other.
