Championship Meet Preparation
Little things can go a long way on race day. As a three-time Olympian, Amanda Weir knows what it takes to step up on the blocks at the end of the season and make it happen! Learn from her where your focus should be as you wrap up your season and prepare for your championship meet!
Turns: Learn how to cary your momentum through the turn and get in and out of each wall with more speed and power. Your head, arms, and core greatly affect how fast you can get your legs to the wall and blast off. Work with Austin Surhoff and Amanda Weir to find a few things to refine so that you can drop time!
Underwater Dolphin Kicking: Activate your muscles from fingertips to toe tips for the full body exercise that is underwater dolphin kicking. Your dolphin kicks are so important to being able to get ahead of the competition. Learn from one of the fastest and most powerful swimmers in the world. You won't believe how much of a difference it makes.
Finishes: Fitter and Faster swimmers WIN close races because they know the proper technique required to get your hand on the wall FIRST! Keep your head down, strokes long, and reach for the wall with your fingertips. Goals are achieved or missed by hundredths of a second. Make sure that you're on the right side of your goals!
ASK QUESTIONS: Swimmers and parents are invited to ask the elite clinicians questions during a Q&A session. Gain insight into their training regimen, diet and nutrition, and recovery tactics. Get to know her and relate to his journey as inspiration for yourself.
WATCH THE CLINICIAN: Observe Amanda and Austin swim at full speed and demonstrate a progression of perfectly executed drills to achieve powerful, efficient and fast swimming. Visual learners will greatly benefit from not only seeing drills and exercises done correctly, but also from seeing them live and in person!
PRACTICE DRILLS: Learn the same drills that Amanda practices every day as well as what she thinks about when she swims. Then get the chance to practice them and get feedback!
