Swimmers will learn and practice the essentials of fast, smart swimming based on the efficient and powerful styles of Olympic freestyler Chloe Sutton and Olympic breaststroker Clark Burckle.
Curriculum, Essentials of Fast Breast and Free - Noblesville, IN
FREESTYLE:
BREASTSTROKE:
- HIGH HIPS: Keeping the hips as close to the surface of the water helps emulate the perfect streamline position off every wall. Burckle stresses this with drills that will help swimmers find the point in the glide that the hips are slightly above the hands, leading to a downhill swimming feeling.
- SQUEEEZE THE STROKE: Learn the technique Burckles uses to squeeze the hands, forearms, abs, thighs, and feet together at the end of each stroke cycle in order to get the move forward with the most power.
- TURN OUT THE HANDS: Burckle has found that he is strongest at the beginning of each pull cycle with his hands turned out to grab more water and better use the stronger chest muscles. Practice this technique with sculling drills that Burckle has used to perfect his stroke.
- JUMP FOR POWER: A major element of Burckle’s dryland routine is a progression of jumps which include frog jumps, squat jumps, and single led speed skater jumps. This progression promotes athleticism and balance and works both endurance and fast twitch muscles.
WATCH THE CLINICIANS: Observe Sutton and Burckle swim at full speed and demonstrate a progression of perfectly executed drills to achieve powerful, efficient and fast freestyle and breaststroke.
GET UP AND RACE: Race two of the best swimmers in the world and watch their near-flawless technique - achieved by practicing the same drills they will teach you.
ASK QUESTIONS: Swimmers and parents are invited to ask the clinicians questions during a Q&A session. Hear the Olympians talk and gain insight into their training regimen, diet and nutrition, and recovery tactics.
