EXPERIENCE

Upon meeting Kasia Sawicz, one feels her deep connection to, and passion for, swimming. Growing up in Queens, NY, she swam for the Flushing Flyers and developed relationships with her teammates and coaches that endure to this day. When reflecting on what positive influences she had as a young athlete, Kasia says, “The human interactions were very helpful for me. My parents, coaches, and teammates pushed me in a positive way.”

Kasia is a coach and athlete for Chelsea Piers, a U.S. Masters Swimming club. She competes in, and organizes, U.S. Masters Swim meets and is inspired by swimmers age 8 to 98. She brings her love for the sport to Fitter & Faster camps, sharing with participants stories from her swimming career. A pivotal moment in her career, and one that she shares with camp participants, came at age 10. She says, “I can close my eyes and remember my 10 and under 200 medley record breaking race. I still talk to the girls on the relay with me, as well as our coach. We broke a 30-year-old record with that race. We were 9 and 10 years old and understood the importance of that. The memory of that race…I just genuinely loved my swimming experience.”

Kasia finds working with age group swimmers to be an exciting experience because of their willingness to engage and listen. “The most amazing thing is that they’re so excited and willing to hear from you. You forget that they bring zero judgment to your swimming success. Young athletes ask questions and engage, and get so excited when you’re in the water with them.”

Swimming in high school, college, and U.S. Masters Swimming gives Kasia a unique perspective on the sport. She is breaking records in her current age group, and still has goals she is working to achieve. By participating in a camp with Kasia, your swimmer will experience her infectious love for the sport and learn to find joy in their swimming experience.
