EXPERIENCE

Michael Duderstadt is a laid back, down to earth kind of guy with a true passion for swimming. Michael first started swimming because his best friend loved it and he thought he would try something outside of more traditional sports such as baseball and football. In his clinics he wants to take after one of his professors and really engage the swimmers and help them want to learn rather than making them learn because as he says, “wanting to learn made all the difference.”

“One of my favorite aspects of swimming has always been the opportunity to learn and grow no matter what level you are at. To be able to take what I’ve learned throughout my career and be able to share that with swimmers of all levels is what excites me the most.”

In his clinics, Michael focuses on the small details because he believes that it’s the quickest way for students to impact their swimming success, both short and long term. For example, he emphasizes the importance of a strong catch and a good body line.

According to Michael, the top three takeaways he wants swimmers at his clinics are:

“First, remember that swimming is a sport, and no matter what stage of competition you are at, always remember to have fun with the sport and those around you. Second, is to always continue to learn and grow. Listen to your coaches, observe what/how others perform certain things, and continue to think about the way you may be doing something and challenge how it could become better. And third, don’t set boundaries. Think big, set big goals, and work hard to achieve them.”

For anyone attending Michael’s clinics he says that he wants them to “soak up the whole experience.” In addition, Michael hopes that swimmers will understand the magnitude of what they are able to do through Fitter and Faster.

“The young swimmers are going to be around some of the best swimmers in the world with years and years of experience in all facets of the sport. They should ask as many questions as they can, listen to everything that is said, and have fun with it. Swimmers will have years and years ahead of them to perfect every stroke and every turn, so they should allow themselves to be inspired by the instructors and what they have to offer.”

Book Michael today to help and encourage your swimmers to believe and trust in themselves, no matter what the circumstance. And as Michael says, “I like to think that I have a different perspective on swimming because I have an untraditional swimming background so don’t be afraid to ask questions, and I’ll see ya out there!”
