We participated in the Butterfly camp prior to the Breaststroke camp. At Butterfly camp, Jack Conger was very nice and gave some really helpful tips and encouragement. Lizzy shared super motivational stories, tips, was great with the kids and overall awesome. Lizzy is amazing. We were very impressed with FFT on our first go. However, Pavel Romanov blew us away at Breaststroke camp. He was incredible with the kids. He was just incredibly kind and intentional with all the kids. He and Lizzy were a great team. Pavel really connected with the kids, did a dryland warm-up and gave tips on warm-up and stretching. And, even though the heater was broken he encouraged the kids, was in the water nearly the whole time with them, sharing how these situations form friendships and resolve for the sport. Pavel stopped many kids mid-drill to individually correct, teach and help during both days. Pavel was down to earth, had no pompous air to him, no ego whatsoever. Which was refreshing. Pavel was all smiles and all the parents noticed. Many parents talked about how wonderful of an instructor Pavel and Lizzy were together. Especially Pavel’s kind and down to earth attitude. I personally enjoyed Pavel sharing that he isn’t as much of a “coach” as a fellow swimmer. He is currently training for meets and personal goals and feels what the kids feel like nerves, and exhaustion at cold water and early training sessions. I thought that was special. – Amanda Kowal in Austin, TX
