Introduction

Dryland Program for Swimmers - Sign up to participate in this four week, 8 session dryland program!

This dryland program is specifically made for swimmers ages 12-14 to race faster and drop time through swimming specific land exercises. Participants in this program will work with Lee virtually to ensure proper form and execution of the exercises to get MORE out of a dryland routine and prevent injury. Swimmers who complete this program can expect to walk away stronger and more athletic swimmers ready to race fast once they're back in the water.

Classes are one hour long and limited to 12 athletes. Coach Sommers will be able to provide important individual feedback to all swimmers in attendance to ensure proper technique. 

Each class will be designed and led by Strength and Conditioning and 20 year industry veteran Coach Lee Sommers. He trained Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Katie Ledecky for the 4 years leading up to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. He now works with several swim teams in the DC area to provide their dryland training. For each class, he will lead the athletes through the exercises and watch their technique to ensure proper form.

Every Monday and Wednesday for 4 Weeks (April 20-May 13)
Each class will be from 6:00 PM EST - 7 PM EST

Suggested Participants

These sessions are appropriate for all swimmers aged 12-14. Each workout is limited to 12 participants. Equipment is not required. Weights are optional.

Curriculum

Dryland Program to Become a Better Athlete

This dryland program is a must for any swimmer looking to improve their overall athleticism and strength. It is specifically designed for swimmers by a strength and conditioning coach who has worked with swimmers his whole career, including Olympic gold medalists. Swimming specific exercises can not only improve performance in the pool, but also reduce the chances of injury. Swimmers will be under direct observation by a trained expert strength and conditioning coach the whole time to ensure proper form and execution!

  • Gain Knowledge of Proper Form: Swimmers in this workout program will be able to watch Coach Sommers perform the exercises and then also receive feedback from coach Sommers to ensure proper technique. This is incredibly important because proper technique will help swimmers build strength faster while also preventing injury.
  • Improve Athleticism: Body awareness and movement quality are just as important in swimming as they are in other sports. Practicing dynamic movements on land greatly improves a swimmer's athleticism for faster swimming in the pool. Swimmers will also improve their balance, stability, and core awareness!
  • More Strength and Power: By using both body weight and weighted exercises on land, swimmers can build more strength and power for faster and stronger racing in the pool! These full body workouts will address all the areas that swimmers need the most strength!
  • Reduce Injury Risk: This program is designed specifically for swimmers to strengthen the areas that need the most support! By building certain muscles and improving functionality, swimmers can greatly reduce their risk of injury both on land and in the water.
