Gil Stovall is an American swimmer who competed at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. Gil exemplifies what hard work and determination can produce. Gil is only 5' 8" tall and weighs only 145 pounds, but his accomplishments are of monumental proportions. His competitors throughout his entire life were always much larger. Gil out worked them. He out hustled them... and he become one of the greatest swimmers in American history.
In Gil's final season at the University of Georgia he broke Olympic Champion Mel Stewart's 17-year old NCAA record in the 200-yard butterfly at the NCAA Championships, winning the national title.
